Woodcote Brewing Co Est 2015

A Brief History

Woodcote Brewery was established in April 2015 with a small 400 litre system. The first ever brew was Squires Gold Best Bitter 4.5%; as soon as it was ready a couple of local pubs were approached and asked if they would try the new batch, fortunately for the brewery they loved it and have gone on to order from us and recommend it to others ever since.

In early 2016 we added additional fermentation tanks to keep up with demand, our regular beers now included SPA Supreme Pale Ale 4.2%, Oatmeal Stout 4.7% and Squires Gold 4.5%, the business continued to grow so in 2018 upgraded our system;

The extra capacity allowed us to develop the range even further with new beers like our XPA 3.9% Extra Pale Ale, IPA 5.0% and Rum and Raisin Stout 6.3%.

We made all of our beers available in barrels and we bottled all in-house too.

We continued to grow the business and in December 2019 decided it was time to look for bigger premises and install a much larger brew house, so plans were put in place. Unfortunately in the early part of 2020 ourselves and everyone else was hit with the Covid pandemic, the decision was made to put our plans on hold. Our usual trade with pubs stalled but after overwhelming requests from customers we decided we had to put all our efforts into bottled beer and begin our home delivery service. This was very well received and we literally could not keep up with demand. The brewery still offers the same service today as many of our customers asked us to continue with it. It was a difficult time with the business but thanks to the loyalty of our customers we were able to adapt very quickly to the crisis.

In January 2021, despite the uncertainty we made the decision to move to a new larger unit with 3 phase electricity supply to give us the extra power needed for a bigger brew house. We completed the move in late February; once we had installed all the necessary stainless steel pipe work, brewing commenced and we began to launch many new recopies, including several from our craft range like Randan IPA, Helles and Ionosphere IPA.

In May we installed our new Hot Liquor Tank, Mash Tun and Kettle which was five times bigger than our original system, then in June we placed our order for two 1,200 litre custom built fermentation tanks which finally arrived in November.

As with any growing business we have continued to invest in more equipment and branding during 2022, new recipes and product development are on-going, all our beers are Unfiltered for a fuller flavour.  We continue to bottle condition all of our beers and offer a canned version on most of our craft range, we are excited about what the future holds for us and we thank all of our customers and friends for supporting us over the years and helping to continue with our exciting journey.
